【Purpose of the Course】 Reducing heating and cooling energy is an important issue in advancing energy efficiency and carbon neutrality in housing and architecture. In this context, it is essential to first enhance the basic thermal performance of building structures through insulation and heat shielding, which also serves as a countermeasure in situations where equipment cannot be used due to disasters or power outages. In this seminar, we will introduce evaluation methods (testing methods and calculation methods) for the insulation and heat shielding performance of architectural components such as windows and walls, as well as explain the fundamentals of building thermal transmission that underlie these methods.
