The OW-34-BP+OZ-20 is a tipping bucket rain gauge that features a 200 mm inlet and has changed its body shape from the conventional cylindrical type to an hourglass-shaped cover. It has a tipping bucket mechanism that houses the inner container. The sensing part consists of a triangular bucket that tips over with the weight of 0.5 mm (standard) of precipitation, and a magnet attached to this tipping bucket instantaneously closes a reed switch each time it tips, converting the rainfall into pulse-shaped contact signals for measurement.
