basic information
**Lecture Summary** Recently, in the creation of new facilities such as railways and roads, as well as the introduction of new products like industrial machinery, transportation devices, and home appliances, "noise reduction," "quietness," and "vibration reduction" have become important keywords from the planning and design stages across a wide range of fields. To successfully and economically achieve these goals, a comprehensive understanding of "noise reduction technologies and materials" is deemed essential. In this presentation, noise reduction will be divided into solid-borne sound and air-borne sound, and the fundamental technologies of "vibration isolation, damping" and "sound insulation, sound absorption" will be explained from the perspective of practical design, along with actual materials and application examples. **Lecture Summary** The mechanism by which sound generated by the engine is acoustically amplified within the engine room, further transmitted through single walls and sound insulation materials, and intrudes into the passenger compartment will be clearly introduced using the basic theories of sound insulation and absorption. Subsequently, specific countermeasures for each item will be presented using a one-box car A as an example. In particular, case studies of underfloor sound field analysis will be introduced, along with examples of successfully reducing in-car noise by preventing the diffusion of sound that intrudes into the passenger compartment through the development of sound-absorbing sheets and sound-absorbing ceilings.
