【Lecture Overview】 This presentation will introduce the latest trends and current comparisons of the pharmacopoeias of Japan, Europe, and the United States, highlighting the differences between Japan and the West, the progress of international harmonization, points to consider regarding materials used, and examples of how companies are addressing these issues and managing risks. 【Lecture Overview】 In a society facing declining birth rates and an aging population, there is a growing need for pharmaceutical packaging and devices that incorporate the concept of universal design to effectively use medications. This presentation will introduce aspects of usability in pharmaceutical packaging, such as ease of opening and visibility. 【Lecture Overview】 PTP (Press-through Package) packaging has been used for over 40 years as a form of packaging for pharmaceuticals such as capsules and tablets. Recently, with changes in formulations, there has been a demand for high moisture-resistant functional films, as well as characteristics and evaluation techniques that meet user requests, some of which will be introduced. 【Lecture Overview】 This presentation will explain the functions and quality required for pharmaceutical packaging, divided into the development and manufacturing stages. It will particularly highlight case studies of troubles encountered in manufacturing settings. Additionally, it will discuss experiences related to measures for preventing medical accidents, explaining both the required and non-required functions. Finally, recent recall cases related to packaging will be introduced, with the aim of informing future packaging design and material development.
