The thickness of the wet coating film can be measured easily.
It is used for measuring wet film thickness. By contacting the wet (un-dried) coating, the film thickness can be measured. Since it is made of stainless steel, it can be used repeatedly by wiping off the paint after use. There are three sizes available: S 20-370μm, M 25-2000μm, and L 50-10,000μm. There is also one size of aluminum comb-shaped wet film thickness gauge available, which measures 25-2,000μm.

Insert the blade of the film thickness gauge into the wet (un-dried) paint. After removing it, check the blade. You can see the parts of the blade that have paint on them and those that do not. The area between the parts with paint and those without is the wet film thickness. For example, if paint adheres to a 75μm blade but not to a 100μm blade, it indicates that the wet film thickness is between 75 and 100μm.
