basic information
**Part 1: Lecture Summary** The use of resins for optical applications such as display lenses is expanding. Therefore, I will explain the fundamentals of refractive index and birefringence, which are essential for handling optical resins, and discuss their applications in optical uses. **Part 2: Lecture Summary** Glass and glass-type materials continue to be adopted worldwide. I will provide a comprehensive explanation comparing the advantages of glass properties, the development history of the material, and processing methods with resin and film-based materials. **Part 3: Lecture Summary** Currently, polycarbonate, known for its excellent impact resistance, is the most widely considered alternative to glass materials. However, challenges remain, such as insufficient weather resistance, scratch resistance, and chemical resistance, making hard coatings indispensable. In this lecture, I will introduce the characteristics of Arkema's ShieldUp, a novel acrylic material modified at the nano level with excellent weather resistance, along with application examples, including cases adopted by Renault.
