Transparent resin compound / transparent glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin pellets
It is a glass fiber reinforced transparent resin compound that achieves high transparency, high rigidity, and low linear expansion coefficient.
This is a glass fiber reinforced transparent resin compound (such as polycarbonate and amorphous polyamide resin) that achieves high transparency, high rigidity, and a low coefficient of linear expansion. It is used in various housings with optical applications and high design quality. It has high fluidity, making it easy to mold complex shapes and thin-walled structures. basic information
<Polycarbonate Example> Asahi Fiberglass has developed a groundbreaking glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate resin compound that achieves both transparency and high rigidity, as well as a low coefficient of linear expansion, which have been considered difficult to combine until now, through the development of new glass fibers. The glass fibers used in the new compound are designed to minimize alkali leaching through glass composition and surface treatment technology to prevent resin decomposition during the mixing of the polycarbonate resin. Additionally, the refractive index of the glass is made to closely approximate that of the resin across almost the entire visible light spectrum. As a result, the light transmittance of parallel light through a 2mm thick injection-molded sheet with a glass content of 10% has dramatically improved from 13% to 74%. On the other hand, the coefficient of linear expansion has achieved a significantly lower value of 45 ppm, compared to 70 ppm for polycarbonate resin molded products without reinforcing fibers.

Company information
Asahi Fiberglass began operations in 1956 as Japan's first manufacturer specializing in fiberglass. Since then, we have supplied a variety of fiberglass products centered around energy-saving insulation materials like glass wool, while also striving to develop new applications and provide high-quality products to the market. During this time, fiberglass has expanded its applications not only in traditional fields such as insulation and sound-absorbing materials and reinforced structural materials but also as composite and high-performance materials in electronics, communications, space, biotechnology, and environmental conservation. It is now widely utilized in various aspects of our daily lives. To enhance customer satisfaction, we consistently adopt the perspective of our customers and aim for continuous value creation. We are actively working on expanding new businesses, including the development of new glass wool products, various types of insulation and sound-absorbing materials, high-performance new materials and composites in the industrial materials sector utilizing the composite material technologies accumulated throughout our company's history, and a diverse range of offerings in the building materials sector.
