The detector array operates stably for long periods with TE cooling. A tungsten halogen lamp is used as the light source, stabilizing in about 10 minutes. The design has no moving parts.

The detector, light source, and electrical circuit are housed in a sturdy aluminum case. The weight is approximately 9 kg or less. Operation can be easily performed using Windows-based analysis software via a USB interface. Traditional spectrophotometers are expensive, large in size, and take time to measure. The SPM301 is low-cost, has no moving parts, and can measure immediately. This unit measures the transmission spectra of liquids and solids in the range of 1.0 to 3.0 μm. Materials such as alcohol, water, acetone, nitrogen, potassium, and plastics can be measured. Products in the range of 1.0 to 3.0 μm can also be manufactured.
