The spectrometer sensor array and array drive circuit are mounted inside the SM200/400. The standard sensor array uses the Sony ILX511 for the SM200 and the Toshiba TCD1304 for the SM400. The driver circuit is designed to operate with high sensitivity. Custom arrays can also be used for special applications. The standard interface for the SM200/400 includes a 16-bit dynamic range USB 2.0 interface and a 16-bit dynamic range sampling PCI card. The USB board supports multi-channel configurations of up to 8 channels. Multi-channel configurations allow for a wide range of high-resolution or dual spectrometer devices (for measurement and reference). Spectral Products will apply a new UV-enhanced coating to the CCD to increase UV sensitivity below 450nm. This will improve signal sensitivity below 500nm by approximately 20% to 50%. The software for application development is the SM32Pro, a Windows-based spectral acquisition and analysis software.
