An applicator for applying paint and coating materials to a uniform film thickness.
It is used to apply coatings such as paints and inks with an even film thickness. After dropping the paint onto the substrate, hold both ends of the applicator by hand and pull it towards you at a constant speed. Since the four sides are cut with different gaps, simply rotating the body allows for uniform coating at four different film thicknesses. In the case of functional coatings, evaluation results often become unstable due to differences in film thickness. To manage a consistent film thickness, the use of a film applicator is recommended. The material is made of stainless steel.

Place and secure the test piece on a flat surface such as a glass plate. Spread the sample, such as paint or ink, over the test piece, pinch both ends of the applicator with your fingers, and quickly pull the applicator towards you at a speed of about 150mm in approximately one second while pressing it against the test piece. After finishing applying the sample, place the test piece with the coated surface facing up and level.
