A bar coater used to apply coatings and inks at a consistent film thickness. Traditional bar coaters have a wire wrapped around them, which can lead to wire breakage and clogging with paint, making cleaning difficult. This bar coater does not use a wire; instead, it has a uniform surface texture processed to match the film thickness, eliminating issues like wire breakage and misalignment, and improving cleaning. It has less wear and tear, allowing for longer use. The film thickness is measured in micrometers (μm), and you can choose from 6 to 150 μm. The application widths available are 200 mm and 320 mm.

Fix the test piece in place on a flat surface. Place the bar coater on the test plate and spread the paint or ink in a strip parallel to the front of the bar coater. To move the bar coater, press down on both ends with your fingers to apply even pressure across the entire bar coater, pulling it towards you at a consistent speed without rotating it. The pulling speed should be such that you finish pulling 80 mm in about one second. After coating, place the test piece with the coated surface facing up and level.
