Place and secure the test piece on a flat surface such as a glass plate. Spread the sample, such as paint or ink, over the test piece, pinch both ends of the applicator with your fingers, and quickly pull the applicator towards you at a speed of about 150mm in approximately 1 second while pressing it against the test piece. After applying the sample, place the test piece with the coated surface facing up and level.
