A specialized cup for measuring the viscosity of paints and coatings.
Introducing the Ford Cup (FORD CUP) compliant with ASTM standards. It is used to measure the viscosity of paints and inks. The range of viscosity measured varies depending on the diameter of the orifice. The capacity is 100ml. The cup body is made of aluminum, and the nozzle part is made of stainless steel. There is also a dedicated stand with a level for the Ford Cup. *The products in the photo are the 057-4 Ford Cup No.4 and the 057-6 Ford Cup Stand (with level). Ford Cup No.1 057-1 Viscosity range: 10–35cSt Flow time: 55–100 seconds Orifice diameter: 2.1mm Ford Cup No.2 057-2 Viscosity range: 25–120cSt Flow time: 40–100 seconds Orifice diameter: 2.8mm Ford Cup No.3 057-3 Viscosity range: 49–220cSt Flow time: 30–100 seconds Orifice diameter: 3.4mm Ford Cup No.4 057-4 Viscosity range: 70–370cSt Flow time: 30–100 seconds Orifice diameter: 4.1mm

basic information
Fix the viscosity cup to a stand placed in an area unaffected by wind. Use a level to adjust the stand's leveling screw so that the rim of the viscosity cup is horizontal. Press your finger against the orifice of the viscosity cup and slowly pour the filtered paint, which does not contain bubbles, into the cup to avoid creating foam. If bubbles form, wait for them to rise to the surface and remove them. Fill the cup sufficiently until the paint rises to the surface tension level at the top of the cup. Slide a flat glass plate along the rim to remove excess paint without introducing bubbles between the liquid surface and the plate. When the glass plate is moved horizontally along the rim and removed, the liquid surface of the paint will be at the same level as the top surface of the cup's rim. Place a container under the viscosity cup and remove your finger from the orifice. Quickly slide the glass plate away to allow the paint to flow from the orifice. Start the stopwatch as soon as the paint begins to flow. Stop the stopwatch the moment the flow of paint near the orifice is interrupted. Record the drainage time in 0.5-second increments.
