Fiber optic tapers (Fiber Optic Tapers; FOT), formed in a tapered shape from an image conduit fiber bundle, transmit images at a specified magnification to the opposite surface. The fiber tapers from Edmund Optics are designed so that the dimensions of the small diameter end fit the sensor size or diagonal length of 1/2 type or 2/3 type video cameras (however, commercially available cameras generally have a protective cover glass in front of the sensor surface, so a camera with removable glass or an exposed image sensor is required).
