In 1975, a new hardness testing machine was developed by Dr. Leeb and Proceq (Switzerland). The product name "Eqoutip" was derived from the initials of the inventor "Dr. Leeb," as well as from "Hardness" (HL), "Energy," and "Quotient." The Echo Test hardness testing machine has been recognized worldwide for its high testing accuracy and reliability, and it became an ASTM (USA) standard in 1996 and a DIN (Germany) standard in 2007.
