Conventional hardness testing machines require the reference surface to be on the anvil side, meaning that the sample must be parallel for testing to be conducted. The AT series adopts a unique clamping mechanism (patented) that places the reference surface on the indenter side, allowing tests to be conducted regardless of the shape or size of the sample.
