Cleaning is performed in conjunction with detecting screen clogging and at regular intervals. A cleaning device (such as a brush or scraper) pressed against the screen is rotated by an electric motor (or air motor) to scrape and clean the inside of the screen. The debris that is scraped off and settles at the bottom of the equipment is discharged outside using internal pressure from the drain. In cases where debris cannot settle by its own weight, there are models that also perform suction backwashing in addition to scraping cleaning.
