This certification system is conducted by designated testing organizations (Japan Industrial Safety and Health Association) appointed by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, which tests electrical equipment by type. Explosion-proof motors must be selected based on the type of explosive atmosphere and the level of risk involved.
