The wedge-shaped cutting method film thickness gauge is used for measuring the thickness of dry coatings.
The feature is that even if the substrate is made of resin, it can be measured, and under certain conditions, the thickness of each layer of a multilayer film can be measured. The coating is cut into a wedge shape, and the scale of the cut section is read using a microscope mounted on the thickness gauge, which converts it into thickness. The thickness gauge integrates a dedicated cutter (replaceable), a measuring microscope, and a lighting device necessary for measurement. It is possible to measure the thickness of substrates other than metals (such as resin substrates) and multilayer films that could not be measured with a digital thickness gauge.

basic information
Draw a line on the coating of the test piece with the attached felt pen. Use a film thickness gauge to cut through the coating at a 90° angle. The cut should go deep enough to reach the substrate. Turn on the lighting device of the main unit and check the cut coating area with a magnifying microscope. The magnifying microscope has a scale, and you will read the scale of the cut coating. Multiply the read scale by the coefficient of each cutter to calculate the film thickness.
