[Construction Example] Converting a single-story factory into a two-story factory while maintaining the equipment.
Non-stop construction method for factory operations" - Hokuriku Light Metal Co., Ltd. "Cover Build Method
The "Cover Build Method" involves assembling a steel frame to cover an existing building, first constructing the roof and exterior walls to prevent rain and wind from entering. After securing the exterior, the interior of the existing building is demolished, and reconstruction takes place. In the case of Hokuriku Light Metals, which engages in metal processing, a partition wall was established to separate the construction area from the factory operation area, and a new building frame larger than the factory was constructed. Subsequently, the roof and exterior walls of the new building were completed, and while protecting the machinery, the existing building was demolished. Additionally, the second-floor slab inside the new building was constructed, allowing operations to continue without relocating the machinery, thus achieving reconstruction through a two-phase construction process. Through the Cover Build Method and floor division construction, it was transformed into a spacious two-story factory. 【Construction Targets】 ■ There are immovable machines ■ There is space around the building ■ The existing building is a single-story structure ■ Switching production operations is relatively easy *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

basic information
【Construction Procedure】 ■ Establish temporary support while the factory inside the existing building is operational. ■ Construct the new frame so that one side is inside the existing building and the opposite side is outside. ■ After constructing the new frame, install the roof and walls. ■ Once the structure is capable of withstanding rain and wind, dismantle the existing building. ■ After dismantling, construct the second-floor slab inside the new building. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Company information
Yoshizawa Architectural Structural Design Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive design office that consistently handles everything from planning and design to construction and after-service for factory rebuilding and renewal in-house. There are various reasons for wanting to renew an aging factory or introduce new equipment, but the current situation is fraught with challenges, such as the inability to stop production, the costs associated with relocating to a temporary factory, and the resulting decrease in productivity. Our company employs methods like "Cover Build," which involves constructing a steel frame over the existing factory while keeping production equipment in place, and "Separate," which divides the construction period into phases (e.g., Phase 1 and Phase 2) to avoid a decline in operational rates during rebuilding. Additionally, to assess the potential damage buildings may incur during an earthquake, we conduct various seismic surveys, including crack investigations, concrete strength assessments, and rebar layout measurements. Based on the survey results, we propose seismic reinforcement plans. We focus on preserving the assets of companies, including buildings, machinery, materials, and products. Furthermore, we ensure the prompt recovery and continuity of operations. Supporting everything from seismic diagnosis to reinforcement comprehensively is what we, "Yoshizawa," are dedicated to.
