【Construction Case Study】 The existing building, constructed in the 1950s, had deteriorated significantly, and there was initially a desire to rebuild it. However, the hurdles to meet the building code were high, leading to a change in plans for renovation of the existing structure. Additionally, due to the unique structure consisting of two two-story buildings connected by a single-story building, it was necessary to implement not only seismic reinforcement but also appropriate rainwater management. Our company determined that reinforcing and renovating in the original shape would not yield cost-effectiveness, so we newly installed seismic frames in the original single-story section. By making these frames the same height as those of the other existing two-story buildings, we were able to simultaneously solve two issues.
