Matsuoka Chouseki is a natural clay mineral formed by the hydrothermal decomposition of granite over a long period of time. Its main component is crystalline hydrous aluminum silicate (Al2O3·2SiO2·2H2O), characterized by fine, flat (plate-like) particles, and it exhibits plasticity when mixed with water and rigidity when dried.
