[Technical Information] I will explain about explosion-proofing. #About Explosion-Proofing
CP Series
What is explosion-proof construction? It refers to the structure of products designed to prevent explosions and fires. In "hazardous locations" such as factories, explosion-proof machinery and equipment (explosion-proof devices) must be used.
Areas where there is a risk of generating a dangerous atmosphere are referred to as hazardous locations (e.g., areas where flammable gases or vapors are present or may leak). When using motors in such areas, it is necessary to select explosion-proof equipment and motors that have implemented explosion-proof measures to reduce the risk of ignition and explosion. Conditions that can trigger ignition or explosion: 1) The presence of flammable gases or vapors. 2) The presence of ignition sources and oxygen that can reach the ignition temperature of those gases or vapors in the vicinity. If even one of these can be eliminated, ignition and explosion will not occur. Types of explosion-proof structures: 1) Pressure-resistant explosion-proof structure (d) ... Enclosed in a pressure vessel that can withstand explosions. 2) Oil-filled explosion-proof structure (o) ... The arc-generating parts are housed in insulating oil to prevent sparks from igniting. 3) Internal pressure explosion-proof structure (f) ... A protective gas is continuously sealed inside the container to maintain positive pressure, preventing flammable gases from entering from the outside. 4) Increased safety explosion-proof structure (e) ... A structure that increases safety to prevent sparks and localized high temperatures. 5) Intrinsic safety explosion-proof structure (i) ... A structure recognized as safe by official organizations. 6) Special explosion-proof structure (s) ... Structures recognized as safe by official organizations that do not fall under the above categories.

basic information
Types of Explosion-Proof Structures (Details) Pressure-Resistant Explosion-Proof Structure A structure that has explosion-proof performance, ensuring that even if an explosion occurs inside the container, it does not affect the outside of the container. Oil-Filled Explosion-Proof Structure A method that isolates the ignition source from flammable gases and vapors by immersing it in insulating oil. Internal Pressure Explosion-Proof Structure A method that fills the container with pressurized non-flammable gases such as air or nitrogen, isolating the flammable gases and vapors outside the container from the ignition source. Increased Safety Explosion-Proof Structure An explosion-proof structure applied only to electrical equipment that does not act as an ignition source during normal operation. Since even electrical equipment that typically does not act as an ignition source can become an ignition source due to electrical sparks, this structure is referred to as an increased safety explosion-proof structure. Intrinsic Safety Explosion-Proof Structure Applicable only to low-voltage electrical equipment, designed to prevent the generation of inherently dangerous sparks or high heat. Special Explosion-Proof Structure A structure confirmed through tests to have explosion-proof performance against flammable gases and vapors, regardless of specific explosion-proof structures. This is intended to pave the way for the adoption of new explosion-proof structures based on new principles and technological advancements in composition and materials, beyond existing explosion-proof structures. - Powder-Filled Explosion-Proof Structure - Resin-Filled Explosion-Proof Structure
