This application note describes a sample preparation protocol using solid-phase extraction for the detection of three catecholamine metabolites in plasma (vanillylmandelic acid, homovanillic acid, and 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid) by LC-MS/MS. The method used here achieves high recovery rates with good reproducibility for many common catecholamines in plasma.
