What is the RoHS Directive? The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances, commonly known as RoHS) Directive is a directive enacted by the European Union (EU) in July 2006 that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The RoHS Directive aims to ensure that electrical and electronic equipment does not contain hazardous substances, primarily to facilitate recycling under the WEEE Directive and to prevent harm to humans and the environment when such equipment is disposed of through landfill or incineration.
