"Enabling vibration control and reinforcement with heat-resistant FRP" Currently, fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) primarily use carbon fibers and 180°C curing epoxy resins, and until now, there have been no high-strength resin fibers that do not degrade at 180°C curing. Heat-resistant polyimide resin fibers, IMIDETEX, which can withstand temperatures above 250°C, can be used for FRP. This compensates for the brittleness of carbon fibers and absorbs vibrations and impacts, allowing for the design of new FRP materials that combine high strength and impact resistance. Additionally, by curing IMIDETEX with I.S.T's polyimide resin for FRP, it is possible to create a new FRP made entirely of polyimide resin. For example, it expands the new possibilities of FRP in sports equipment such as golf shafts, as well as in aircraft engine blades and heat protection for automotive batteries.
