COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) research support tool

To understand SARS-CoV-2, scientists are collecting numerous samples from COVID-19 patients. The serum samples from patients are filled with information about the immune response to this new pathogen, including antibody reactivity to viral antigens. In this webinar provided by Bio-Techne, Dr. Javier Castillo-Olivares will explain the findings obtained regarding antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 through testing patient serum using the Simple Western (fully automated immunoblotting system). Dr. Castillo-Olivares and Dr. Matteo Ferrari will present the Jess measurement data and characterize the antibody responses in SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals. The reactivity of IgG, IgA, and IgM in patient serum against major SARS-CoV-2 antigens (N, the entire spike, and their subunits S1, S2, RBD) will be shown. There will also be a discussion by both doctors regarding these results in relation to other serological data obtained from other assays.

In this technical talk, Dr. Heger from our company will introduce how to rapidly generate high-speed, reproducible, and highly sensitive assays on the SimpleWestern and SimplePlex platforms using our unique SARS-CoV-2 recombinant proteins and antibodies, and how to characterize the immune response to COVID-19.

This concerns the visual detection and quantification of in vivo distribution of AAV and LV vectors and the expression of introduced genes in preclinical animal models using RNAscope and BaseScope in situ hybridization. RNAscope in situ hybridization (ISH) is described by users as a means for "morphology-based analysis of AAV in vivo distribution." The RNAscope in situ assay for AAV DNA and introduced gene mRNA combines the molecular sensitivity of qPCR with single-cell resolution and the context of tissue morphology. BaseScope ISH is another powerful tool that facilitates the development of gene therapies. Specific measurements of therapeutic human introduced gene expression in animal models are often impossible by IHC due to the high level of homology between the introduced gene and animal ortholog transcripts. BaseScope allows for specific detection even of single nucleotide differences, enabling easy distinction of AAV human introduced genes from non-human primate and other animal ortholog sequences.
