Our company conducts RT (Radiographic Testing). What comes to mind when you hear "radioactivity"? Generally, many people associate it with what is commonly referred to as "X-rays." X-rays are a type of radiation used in medical applications, and both X-rays and gamma rays can easily penetrate materials, whether it be the human body or welded steel; they fundamentally pass through. However, not all materials are equally penetrable; some are easier to penetrate than others. Even when radiation is emitted under the same conditions to sensitize the film, there will be variations in shadow density on the film.
