Introducing a case study of a machined tool holder for SCM415 as an alternative to whetstone grinding!
"Film polishing" can achieve an excellent surface finish in a short time while minimizing polishing unevenness and the occurrence of scratches. We received a request from a tool holder manufacturer for taper surface polishing aimed at improving surface roughness. The workpiece is a tool holder for machining, and the material is SCM415. Using a microfilm of 15μ, we processed for 25 seconds, and the measurement results after processing were R max 0.329μm/Ra 0.029μm. [Processing Example] ■ Requestor: Tool holder manufacturer ■ Workpiece Name: Tool holder for machining ■ Workpiece Material: SCM415 ■ Purpose: Improvement of surface roughness / Pre-processing R max 1.1μm / Required value R max below 0.6μm ■ Film Used: Microfilm 15μ ■ Processing Time: 25 seconds ■ Measurement Results After Processing: R max 0.329μm/Ra 0.029μm * Test processing is available. The first time is free of charge. * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Our company was founded in 1951 in Kobana, Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, with the aim of precision machining of small parts using Swiss-made small precision automatic lathes as the core. Currently, we operate with a four-factory system in Osaka and Hyogo Prefectures. At the time of our founding, we specialized in parts machining, but since the machining equipment necessary for parts processing was predominantly foreign-made and very expensive, we decided to develop our own cam-type automatic lathe, which led to the birth of our precision division. We also manufacture cutting tools in-house, creating unique strengths that extend beyond parts machining to include tool design and the use of our own dedicated machines. We have two divisions: the machine tool division and the parts division. In the "Parts Division," we perform high-precision and complex precision machining using our unique machining and management technologies, ensuring that we can meet a wide range of customer requests from prototyping to mass production under a highly reliable quality assurance system. In the "Machine Tool Division," we design machine tools and utilize a super finishing machine called the "Super Finisher" using a film method, widely accommodating ultra-fine machining of parts that require high performance and high efficiency, from standard machines to dedicated machines.
