By foaming, it achieves a weight reduction with a specific gravity (apparent density) that is typically less than half that of standard silicone rubber. Since it is composed of independent bubbles (cells), it exhibits extremely high thermal insulation and heat retention effects. It is often used as a sealing material in areas subjected to heat. Due to its low compressive load value, it is suitable for sealing applications where large loads cannot be applied. In terms of moldability for fine cross-sectional shapes, silicone rubber generally excels.
