Witness is software that runs on Windows, allowing users without special programming knowledge to create models. It supports 3D visualization by default and offers optimization options. ■ From Problem Solving First, set the problem you want to solve and organize the conditions and data. Next, model the actual movements and conditions in the field to virtually recreate the site. Then, run simulations while changing parameters to conduct quantitative evaluations. We are simulating the ambulance dispatch plan upon receiving a 119 emergency call. Depending on the urgency, we change the ambulance being arranged and select from available ambulances. We input the average travel time and response time for each call to conduct the simulation.

WITNESS is a queue simulator, so it can also simulate bottlenecks in internal operations. It can also be used as a decision-making tool for integration into core systems.

It can also be utilized in the contact center. By setting parameters such as the number of staff currently handling calls, the number of customers waiting, the profiles of calls and staff, the number of calls handled by managers, and the average response time for each type of call, it is possible to optimize the number of operators in the call center.
