Hydroxytyrosol is a polyphenol found in extra virgin olive oil. Hydroxytyrosol is considered one of the most powerful antioxidants with many beneficial health effects, and the ORAC value of pure hydroxytyrosol is 40 umol TE/mg. Its antioxidant capacity is significantly higher than that of other well-known and commonly used antioxidants in the industry, such as tocopherols (vitamin E), coenzyme Q10, vitamin C, and resveratrol.
