Oscillation Frequency Sweep Temperature and strain are kept constant during the frequency sweep, and the viscoelastic properties are monitored as the frequency changes. This figure explains the viscoelastic characteristics of linear homopolymers and shows the changes in G’ and G” as functions of frequency. Since frequency is the inverse of time, the curve demonstrates the time-dependent mechanical response to short times (high frequency) resembling solid-like behavior, and to long times (low frequency) resembling liquid-like behavior.
