Until now, the options for detectors for 4D STEM have been limited. The previous generation of 4D STEM detectors took 15 to 20 minutes to acquire a 1-megapixel STEM image, which was too slow to be practical. Celeritas means "speed" in Latin, and there could be no better name for a camera that can acquire images at speeds up to 100 times faster, capturing a 1-megapixel STEM image in about 10 seconds.
