It may look like just a ring, but in fact, it is constructed by twisting the ends of a thin spring that is tightly coiled, joining them together to form a complete loop. During the twisting process, care is taken to ensure that no twisting occurs throughout the entire ring. The entire ring can stretch and contract like a rubber band, making it useful as a reinforcing spring for the sealing part. The material used is "spring stainless steel wire, SUS631-WPC." This stainless steel spring material is used when greater strength and heat resistance are required compared to the general-purpose "SUS304-WPB." To achieve the specified strength, a heat treatment known as precipitation hardening (also called aging treatment) is applied after the spring is formed. For springs of the same shape, there are processing achievements using non-magnetic and corrosion-resistant "SUS316-WPA" and iron-based spring materials such as "piano wire" and "hard steel wire."
