Anodizing refers to the process of creating an anodic oxide film on the surface of aluminum. Originally, aluminum has a property that allows it to easily combine with oxygen, and it is protected by a naturally occurring oxide film, which is a major characteristic that gives it good corrosion resistance. However, this film is very thin and can lead to corrosion due to chemical reactions in certain environments. Therefore, by artificially creating a thick oxide film on the surface of aluminum, the corrosion resistance and wear resistance are improved, along with enhancing aesthetics and other functions.

By creating an oxide film through anodizing, its corrosion resistance can be improved. 【Can Increase Hardness and Wear Resistance】 The hardness of aluminum ranges from Hv20 to 150 (depending on the alloy), but when anodized, the hardness can increase to about Hv200 or more, enhancing wear resistance as well. 【Can Improve Water Repellency and Slipperiness】 Applying hard anodizing with Teflon to aluminum can enhance its water repellency and slipperiness. 【Thermal Conductivity Decreases Due to the Oxide Film Created by Anodizing】 Aluminum has good thermal conductivity, but anodizing can reduce the thermal conductivity to one-third that of aluminum. 【Can Create Color Variations】 By adsorbing dyes into the fine pores formed in the anodized film, various colors can be achieved.
