Reproducing movements close to those of the human hand! A case study of introducing robots into processes that involve complete manual work by skilled workers.
The painting hand spray gun assembly process at Meiji Machinery Manufacturing Co., which introduced robots this time, was previously a completely manual process performed by skilled workers. Since the spray gun body is made of aluminum die-cast, the precision of hole positions and other aspects is low, requiring a lot of manual adjustments during assembly, leading to variations in quality and work time, low productivity, and the long-standing challenge of securing skilled workers. After the introduction of robots, improvements in productivity and quality were achieved, and the delays that had been occurring every time a worker left were resolved, allowing for inventory to be produced as well. 【Case Overview】 ■ Implementing Company: Meiji Machinery Manufacturing Co., Okayama Factory ■ Before Implementation: 4 skilled workers performed assembly work manually ■ After Implementation: - Parts on pallets are inspected using image measurement devices - Automatic assembly is performed, including three-dimensional movements, while replicating movements similar to human hands - Finished products are stored in a storage stocker *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

basic information
【Content of Introduction】 ■ The spray guns targeted are used in automobile manufacturing and repair, with five models that have significantly different body shapes and 41 variations with different attachment parts. ■ The amount of paint sprayed varies depending on the tightness of each component, requiring delicacy in the assembly work. ■ The robot system constructed this time consists of two articulated robots, one XY robot, two single-axis robots, and one image measuring device, enabling a series of automated tasks from "pre-assembly component inspection" to "assembly work," "post-assembly air leak inspection," and "storage into the finished product storage stacker." * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
