This is an introduction to the case of delivering "+CAL25F" to the Faculty of Bioresource Sciences at Nihon University!
In 2018, we delivered two units of +CAL25F to the Shimoda Marine Laboratory of Nihon University’s Faculty of Bioresource Sciences. The Shimoda Marine Laboratory, located in Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, faces Tanoura Bay and conducts practical training and research on marine resources. However, it is said that in the event of a massive earthquake along the Nankai Trough, a tsunami exceeding 30 meters could reach the area in about 15 minutes. Therefore, the introduction of the shelter was implemented as a measure to ensure the safety of students and faculty and for crisis management. Additionally, the installation location shown in the above photo was constructed by Nihon University in conjunction with the introduction of this shelter, and I was very impressed by their high level of disaster prevention awareness. Furthermore, we conducted simulations of maritime distress situations with students using the +CAL8F, which accommodates eight people, and contributed to disaster prevention research. Not only was it valuable to introduce the shelter, but it was also a very precious experience to actually assist in the research.
