The RoHS Directive, which stands for "Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive," is an EU regulation aimed at reducing environmental destruction and health hazards caused by hazardous substances by restricting the use of specific harmful substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The RoHS Directive was enacted in 2003 and came into effect in 2006. It underwent significant revisions in 2011, with the current regulations being implemented from 2013. The initial directive is referred to as "RoHS1," while the revised directive is known as "RoHS2." Additionally, in 2015, four more regulated substances were added, bringing the total number of regulated substances to ten.
