■Introduction Yamamoto Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a machinery manufacturer founded in 1918 in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. We have gained the top market share in Japan for agricultural machinery, particularly grain dryers and straw cutters. "Because we are a company that has walked alongside agriculture, we want to contribute to improving the global environment that supports food production." This desire, combined with our cultivated technology, led to the creation of the polystyrene reduction machine "High Melter." That is our mission. ■Thoughts on Development The concept of a "circular economy," which views discarded items as resources and aims to circulate resources without generating waste, is gaining attention. However, the recycling industry (*), which plays a significant role in this, does not receive much public interest, and many companies are struggling with labor shortages. Through manufacturing, we want to shine a spotlight on this industry and bring about change.
