The long pass filter, also known as a long pass edge filter, is designed to transmit wavelengths longer than the filter's cut-on wavelength. Long pass filters are used in various industries and life science applications, including microscopic inspection and fluorescence implementation, to separate specific spectra. While long pass filters are typically designed for normal incidence at 0°, dichroic long pass filters are designed for use at an incidence angle of 45°. Additionally, long pass filters are used in conjunction with short pass filters to create custom band pass filters.
