Through joint research with Daicel Corporation, a notification for a functional food product was accepted by the Consumer Affairs Agency on December 18, 2023, highlighting three functions related to "maintenance of skin moisture, barrier function, and elasticity," with soybean isoflavones and lactobionic acid as the active components. In addition to the function of maintaining bone health with soybean isoflavones, it will be possible to promote the triple health claims regarding the maintenance of skin moisture, barrier function, and elasticity. We conducted research in collaboration with Daicel Corporation, focusing on the skin health functions of soybean isoflavones as a new feature. Lactobionic acid, a food ingredient from Daicel, is an indigestible oligosaccharide produced by the fermentation of lactose by acetic acid bacteria, and it is expected to improve skin functions through the intestinal microbiota. Additionally, it has been reported that lactobionic acid promotes the metabolism of soybean isoflavones into equol, which has stronger estrogen-like effects, making it a highly compatible food component with soybean isoflavones. Therefore, we conducted a human trial targeting women concerned about dry skin, where we simultaneously administered "Fujiflavone" and lactobionic acid.
