Our ThermoWave Analyzer TA enables non-contact measurement of carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are cylindrical carbon crystals. They are thin, lightweight, and strong. Due to their structure, they possess excellent characteristics, such as being semiconductor materials. Additionally, they are said to have high conductivity and adsorption properties, as well as theoretically very high thermal conductivity. Various applications for CNT are being explored across different fields. As structural materials, they are expected to be half the weight of aluminum, have 20 times the strength of steel, and particularly in terms of tensile strength along the fiber direction, they even surpass diamonds, making them potentially suitable for use as rope materials in future space elevators due to their remarkable elasticity. In fact, CNT was discovered and developed before graphene, which gained fame after winning the Nobel Prize. Unfortunately, it has been overshadowed by graphene, but CNT still holds untapped potential. Because carbon nanotubes (CNT) have an elongated structure, it seems that even a small amount can easily form networks among fillers. In the future, the development of flexible yet highly thermally conductive materials is anticipated.
