In an EV society, motors are positioned similarly to batteries, not only in terms of performance importance but also in the risks associated with material resource procurement. Therefore, this book discusses resource countermeasure technologies from five perspectives: Chapter 1 focuses on the reduction of heavy rare earth elements, Chapter 2 on the structure of motors, weight reduction, and high-speed operation, Chapter 3 on the enhancement of electrical steel sheets and alternative magnetic materials, Chapter 4 on the recycling of motors and materials, and Chapter 5 on evaluation and analysis. We hope this material will be useful for understanding the resource positioning of EV motors, the technological approaches to address these issues, the current technological challenges, and future prospects.
