This document explains various power supply methods used as onboard power sources for electric vehicles (EVs), such as onboard standard chargers that charge the main battery and onboard auxiliary chargers, discussing their advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, it introduces trends in power supply technology in IEEE and international conferences. Furthermore, it describes the characteristics of power supplies installed in various commercially available EVs, including the latest power supply technology used in the Tesla Cybertruck.

GaN is a semiconductor that has a particularly wide range of applications. Light-emitting devices and high-frequency transistors have already been commercialized and are being used as essential components. Additionally, it possesses suitability as a material for power electronics due to its large bandgap and breakdown electric field strength, and it is considered the next generation of materials following Si and SiC, which are already in practical use. In this presentation, I will explain the trends, challenges, and future prospects of power devices using GaN, covering the range from GaN crystals to devices.

The three major onboard sensors (camera, LiDAR, and millimeter-wave radar) are all electromagnetic wave sensors with different wavelengths. This seminar specifically focuses on LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar, which have overlapping functions (point cloud mapping) and are in a competitive relationship, consistently explaining their characteristics and differences based on wavelength. I believe this is probably the only seminar that attempts a unified explanation based on the differences in wavelength. The content mainly revolves around explaining various performance degradation mechanisms that occur in real onboard sensors. This seminar is limited to comparisons at the sensor level and does not cover sensor fusion technology, which is at a higher system level than the sensors. Even at the sensor level, there is a wealth of topics to discuss.
