High-performance fanless embedded PC BX-M4600

Contec has added a model equipped with the Windows 11-based embedded OS – Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 – to its box computer (R) "BX-M4600 series," and started accepting orders from January 13, 2025. *1 *1 Only for the Japanese model; orders for overseas models are scheduled to begin soon.

Contec has newly developed an expanded 2-slot model for its fanless embedded computer "Box Computer® BX-M4600 Series," which is currently on sale. The lineup now includes PCI Express x2 slot models and PCI x2 slot models, with orders starting from March 4, 2025. The new product features a high-power CPU from the 12th/13th generation Intel Core processors (Alder Lake-S/Raptor Lake-S) while achieving fanless operation, making it a high-performance model at the top of the Box Computer® BX series, equipped with expansion slots. It comes with either two PCI Express (x8) slots or two PCI slots, making it ideal for embedded inspection devices using measurement control boards and for transitioning legacy systems.

Windows Update includes only critical quality updates. Since feature updates are excluded, the need for re-evaluation with each update is minimized, reducing maintenance workload. Various features not found in standard Windows, such as restrictions on user operations and OS write actions, are included. In particular, the UWF (Unified Write Filter) light filter function significantly reduces writes to the disk by redirecting OS write actions to memory. Additionally, there are very useful features that help keep the OS in a proper state, which also contributes to extending the lifespan of SSDs that have a limited number of write cycles.
