However, the instructor of this course actively utilizes IoT (Internet of Things) devices and tools while relying on the expertise of caregiving professionals to monitor and care for their parents. In this course, we will explain the steps to rely on caregiving professionals and the reasons why IoT devices and tools are necessary for caregiving and monitoring. We will share the know-how of how to monitor and care for a mother with dementia who continues to live alone in her family home in Iwate Prefecture, using IoT devices and tools from afar in Tokyo for over 10 years. By utilizing IoT devices and tools, we will learn caregiving wisdom that allows us to avoid leaving our jobs due to caregiving and to provide care without overexerting ourselves. Instructor: Hiroshi Kudo (Certified Dementia Caregiver & Level 2 Dementia Life Partner) The instructor, who lives in Tokyo, has been providing home care for their mother with dementia and a rare disease (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease) since 2012, traveling to Iwate Prefecture. Along the way, they also cared for and witnessed the passing of their grandmother with dementia (requiring care level 3) and their father with malignant lymphoma (requiring care level 5).
