Back Up Critical Systems with Lee Shuttle Valves
Aircraft are designed with redundancy in mind. In cases where redundancy is not practical, such as with landing gear and brakes, a 3-port shuttle valve can provide backup control for a single system. The Lee Shuttle Valve is designed to be integrated into landing gear and brake systems as a method to switch between the main control line and the emergency control line as needed. The Lee Shuttle Valve is available in various sizes/configurations to meet the needs of any application. Since shuttle valves typically operate during emergencies, reliability over the aircraft's lifespan is crucial. Therefore, it is designed to last throughout the aircraft's 30-year lifespan by utilizing a robust stainless steel construction. Each component is also designed to be compact, lightweight, and easy to install. The Lee Shuttle Valve incorporates a unique nose seal design that eliminates bypass leakage and the need for additional O-rings. Options include spring-biased, return-stop shuttle valves, reverse shuttle valves, or zero-leak models.

basic information
- Selective shuttle valves: Our standard free-state ball design. This is the most economical configuration. - Spring-biased shuttle valves: The normal open port is connected to the main hydraulic system, while the normal closed port is connected to an emergency backup, used to select the normal side. - Detented shuttle valves: Typically used when bidirectional flow is required between the inlet port and outlet port. - Inverse shuttle valves: Used to replace two check valves for cavitation prevention and pressure increase prevention in hydraulic operating systems. - Zero leak versions: Zero leak versions of detented and spring-biased shuttle valves can be utilized with polymer valve seats to eliminate leakage.
