[Case Study] High-Sensitivity Quantitative Analysis of Volatile PFAS in Environmental Samples
Efficient PFAS analysis method using SPME Arrow fibers and Orbitrap Exploris GC.
This technical document introduces a highly sensitive quantitative analysis method for volatile perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in environmental samples. By combining the Thermo Scientific Orbitrap Exploris GC high-resolution accurate mass spectrometer with Thermo Scientific SPME Arrow fibers, PFAS in complex environmental samples can be efficiently analyzed. This method allows for the detection of low concentrations of PFAS compounds with high sensitivity while minimizing sample pretreatment. Furthermore, by utilizing HRAM full scan data, both targeted compound quantification and non-target analysis can be achieved, rapidly expanding the analytical scope. In actual sample applications, PFAS compounds were detected in all samples, with particularly high concentrations confirmed in untreated wastewater and landfill leachate. 【Features】 ■ High sensitivity and high selectivity analysis through high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry ■ Efficient sample pretreatment using SPME Arrow ■ Flexible data processing with full scan data ■ Low LOD (0.1–1.4 ng/L) meets stringent reporting limits ■ Detection of a wide range of PFAS compounds in complex environmental samples
