If lithium-ion batteries (LiB) contain moisture, it can lead to the generation of hydrofluoric acid and gases, potentially causing a decrease in battery capacity, product damage, and swelling. Additionally, it can affect the lifespan, making moisture measurement in lithium-ion battery (LiB) electrolytes important from a quality control perspective. Lithium-ion battery materials are samples where accurate moisture measurement is difficult due to side reactions with alcohols such as methanol. However, the Hydranal NEXTGEN Coulomat A-FA / C-FA series uses alcohol-free Karl Fischer reagents, allowing for accurate moisture measurement even in samples containing lithium-ion battery electrolytes and additives, which have previously posed challenges for moisture measurement.
